What none of them will do
Four limits, and they hold across all 22. They are here rather than buried on each page because they are the reason to trust the ones that are left: a free tool that would say anything is not worth reading.
- No tool tells you what the law requires
- Statutory leave minimums, notice periods, employer contribution rates, tax bands and filing dates differ by country, change over time and sometimes differ by region inside one country, so this site does not publish them as fact. Where a tool needs a number of that kind it asks you for it, labels it as your assumption, and shows what it did with it. Where a tool would be useless without inventing one, we did not build it.
- None of this is advice
- Nothing here is legal, tax or accounting advice, and no output is a substitute for someone qualified in the country concerned. Take anything load-bearing, an offer you are about to send or a policy you are about to publish, to a professional who is accountable for the answer.
- None of this is payroll
- Capstan does not compute statutory payroll. It compiles your payroll inputs and hands a documented export to your payroll partner, who does the statutory maths and the filings. A tool on this page that counts days stops at days, on purpose, because the rule that turns days into money is not ours to hold.
- No benchmark, no market data, no invented ranges
- No tool here publishes what a role pays, what a band should be, or what is typical anywhere. That data would have to be made up to exist on a free page, and a made-up number is worse than no number, so the tools arrange figures you already hold instead.
Questions with complete answers
Do I have to give an email address to use these?
No, and you never will. There is no email wall, no sign-up, no gate and no lead form anywhere in this set. Every tool computes in your own browser as you type, which is also why there is nothing for us to collect: the numbers you enter never leave the page you are on.
Which of these work outside my country?
All of them except the few labelled for a single jurisdiction, such as the India CTC, gratuity and HRA tools, which are built around one country's vocabulary and rules and say so on the card, in the title and at the top of the tool itself. Every other tool takes your currency, your number format and your date format, and asks you for any local figure it needs rather than assuming one. The cards above carry the label so you can tell before you click.
Do the calculators use official tax or statutory rates?
No. No tool here states a statutory rate, threshold, slab or deadline as fact, because those change, differ by country and often differ by person. Where a calculation needs one, it is a field you fill in with a figure from your own accountant or the official source, and the tool shows the arithmetic it did with it. That is why every page carries a methodology section: a calculator you cannot check is an ad.
Is anything I type saved or sent anywhere?
No. There is no server call, no analytics on your inputs, no cookie holding your figures and no storage. Closing the tab clears everything. Some calculators offer a link that carries your figures in the address itself, which is the one way a result can travel, and the tool tells you plainly that the numbers are in the link before you copy it.
Can I use the output without Capstan?
Yes. That is the whole idea. Copy the letter, take the policy into your handbook, paste the numbers into a spreadsheet, send the link to your accountant. Nothing here is a trial, nothing expires, and none of it needs an account.
These are free because the core is free. Neither one asks for an email.
