HR analytics software
Capstan's Advanced Analytics module adds a dataset catalogue with permissions compiled into every query, a custom report builder, sanctioned cross-module joins, dashboards, trends and scheduled delivery. Every widget runs as the person looking at it, so a dashboard can narrow what someone sees and can never widen it. Nothing here scores, ranks or predicts a person. It is one of the fourteen modules, included on every plan and free for up to twenty people.

Your workforce at a glance, and on a schedule
Headcount, workforce mix, headcount by department and leave analytics, every headline number computed through one path so the overview and a scheduled digest quote the same figure.

One number, read the same everywhere
Headcount, joiners, leavers, leave liability, leave taken and period attrition are computed once, through one executor, so the overview tile, a board-ready export and a scheduled digest all quote the identical figure. Attrition is leavers over headcount, a plain period rate, so it can never disagree with the leaver and headcount numbers it is built from.
- A board-ready PDF or CSV of the headline numbers, each with its definition and date.
- A weekly or monthly headline digest a workspace admin can schedule to themselves.
- Attrition stated transparently as leavers over headcount, never a prediction or a score.
It reads your data under the viewer's own permissions
Analytics never sits above the access rules; it reads through them. Every widget runs as the person looking at it, so a compensation figure stays a band-placement bucket for anyone without compensation clearance, and a composite report inherits the gate of each module it reads from. A gate set in one module survives every join in another.
- Runs as the viewer, never as the author, so a dashboard narrows reach and never widens it.
- Inherits each module's gate: the survey group-size floor and compensation bucketing survive joins.
- It writes nothing: analytics is a read product and adds no path into another module's data.
What it deliberately does not do
It composes, aggregates and visualises; it does not judge your people and it is not a third-party business-intelligence platform bolted on. The edges are published so you weigh them before buying.
- No AI narratives, no automated insights, no attrition-risk flags, no performance or sentiment scoring.
- Not an embedded third-party BI platform, and it blends in no external data.
- No raw SQL access. The full detail, with its limits, is on the Advanced Analytics module page, and the stance is on our AI page.
HR analytics software questions
What is HR analytics software?
HR analytics software turns the records you already keep, headcount, joiners, leavers, leave, attrition, into views you can read and share. Capstan adds a dataset catalogue with permissions compiled into every query, a custom report builder over a closed vocabulary of dimensions and measures, sanctioned cross-module joins, dashboards, trends and scheduled delivery. Every widget runs as the person looking at it, so a dashboard can narrow what someone sees and can never widen it.
Does it use AI to predict attrition or score people?
No, and it never will under the commitment in our claims register. There is no attrition-risk score, no performance prediction and no sentiment analysis. Period attrition is a plain ratio, leavers over headcount, computed once through the same path as the headcount and leaver figures it is built from, so the rate can never disagree with them. The judgment stays yours; the software does the counting.
Can one report leak data a viewer should not see?
No. Every widget runs as the person looking at it rather than as the person who built it, so a shared dashboard narrows what someone sees and can never widen it. A composite inherits the gate of the module it reads from: the engagement survey minimum group size and the compensation bucketing survive every join, and one schedule can honestly send two recipients different numbers. Analytics writes nothing and adds no new path into another module’s data.
Is HR analytics included for free?
The standard reports in the free core, with CSV export and scheduled delivery, are on every plan and answer most questions. The Advanced Analytics module, which adds the custom builder, the cross-module joins and the dashboards, is one of the fourteen modules and is also included on every plan, the free one included, at no extra charge. What determines how useful it is on day one is which other modules you run, because each contributes its own datasets to the catalogue.
