For global teams
HR software for distributed teams
Capstan is HR software for distributed teams: one record for a company spread across time zones and currencies, employees and global contractors together, held in one self-contained EU region a reviewer can check. Leave and approvals read correctly wherever a person sits, compensation carries its own currency, and payroll inputs are compiled for your partner in each country.
Every figure sits on the pricing page and nowhere else, because pricing is adjusted to your country and belongs in one place.
What a distributed team gets
-
One record across time zones
Work locations carry their own time zones and holiday calendars, so leave, who is out this week and approvals all read correctly whether a person sits in Berlin or Bengaluru. The core handles this on every plan, from the first hire.
-
Compensation in every currency you pay in
Compensation records and bands carry their own currency and effective dates, so a team paid in three currencies is one structured record rather than three spreadsheets, and clean input for whichever partner runs each country payroll.
-
One roster for employees and contractors
Run both from one directory rather than two tools, with contractor tax handled by country packs each workspace configures per jurisdiction. A contractor stays a distinct entity outside employee headcount, so engaging one never uses a free seat.
-
One region a reviewer can check
The whole roster lives in one self-contained EU region, data in Frankfurt and compute in Amsterdam, with no cross-region service key and no copy across borders. It is the same posture for every market you hire in, not a weaker copy per country.
-
Payroll compiled for your partner
Capstan compiles the inputs it already holds, attendance, leave, overtime, compensation and expenses, into a documented export for whoever runs each country payroll, then files the returned payslips back onto the record. It computes no gross-to-net.
-
The record beside your EOR, not instead of it
Capstan is not an employer of record and it moves no money. Where you need someone employed under another entity in a country where you have none, Capstan holds the system of record alongside that EOR rather than pretending to replace it.
Questions distributed teams ask
Can employees and contractors live in one system?
Yes, and that is the point. A contractor is a distinct entity with its own engagement, kept outside employee headcount, so you run both in one workspace on one audit trail, and engaging a contractor never inflates your employee seat count or your free-plan cap.
Where does our data live?
In one self-contained region, the EU today: data and object storage in Frankfurt and compute in Amsterdam. Each region is an isolated deployment with no cross-region service key and no region chooser, and a full export in open formats is always available. The same stack is built to open in more regions as they come online.
Can Capstan employ people for us abroad (EOR)?
No. Capstan is not an employer of record and it moves no money. It is the system of record and the workflow around your people. If you need someone employed under another entity in a country where you have none, you need an EOR, and Capstan holds the record alongside that arrangement rather than replacing it.
Does Capstan run payroll in each country?
No. Capstan works in partner-integration mode: it compiles the payroll inputs it already holds into a documented export for your payroll partner in each country, then files their computed results back onto each person. It computes no gross-to-net and holds no statutory rate, so the compliance maths stays with the partner.
How is a multi-currency team handled?
Compensation records and bands carry their own currency and effective dates, so a team paid in several currencies is one structured record rather than a spreadsheet per country, and it becomes clean input for each local payroll run. Billing, separately, follows your billing country and every figure is on the pricing page.
One record for your whole team, wherever they sit. The core is free for up to twenty.
